The COALVILLE  LIGHT  ORCHESTRA is an amateur orchestra which meets weekly

to play mainly classical music in a relaxed environment just for the pleasure of it
Unlike many amateur orchestras,  it does not give public performances
its members enjoy playing without the spotlights, an audience and intensive rehearsal schedules
There is no Annual subscription fee to pay so you can choose to play often or occasionally
We simply collect £2 from you on each night you do attend to go toward the hire of the room, music & piano, and the insurance
We ask for nothing at all if you are still in full time education!
Come along with your instrument and give us a try
  • We are an organisation that does not take itself too seriously
  • Mainly adults - a wide range of ages and musical ability - a few younger members
  • Good start for anyone wishing to try playing with an orchestra for the first time
  • Ideal for those returning to playing after a break
  • Members bring their own instruments - except the pianist!
  • All music is supplied for the evening but may not be taken home to practice
  • We do play some "more serious" classical music so don't let our name fool you!
Coalville Light Orchestra on a Tuesday evening

Ted is the conductor

Although most people who join us do stay for a long time (or go off to university!)
we may not be what you hoped for - especially if you'd prefer to play to an audience -
in which case you may wish to consider contacting
other orchestras in the area
