We meet every TUESDAY evening (7:15-8:45 p.m.) during term time throughout the year
and additionally during most of the school Summer holidays

Any members still in full time education can, until further notice, play for free!

Coalville Light Orchestra:

An amateur orchestra which meets most Tuesday evenings to play light classical music in a relaxed environment just for the pleasure of it

We welcome new players of most orchestral instruments.
In particular, we are currently looking for ...

- trombone (especially after September 2013)
- any additional Brass
- violas

- any additional string players are always welcome

Sorry, but we still have a waiting list for flutes in the orchestra

Chamber Music Group:

Welcomes any new players for practice at mutually convenient times - like the orchestra the emphasis is on playing for pleasure and improvement in private
We are still short of a VIOLA PLAYER so until we can find one we shall be unable to play string quartets and piano quartets/quintets (e.g. Mozart K478 & K493, Schumann Op 44 and 47).  June 2013

The COALVILLE  LIGHT  ORCHESTRA is an amateur orchestra which meets weekly

to play light classical music in a relaxed environment just for the pleasure of it

Unlike many amateur orchestras,  it does not give public performances so its members
can enjoy playing without the spotlights, an audience and intensive rehearsal schedules

We have no Annual subscription fee so you can chose to play often or occasionally
We simply collect £2 from you on each night you do attend to go toward the hire of the room, music & piano
We ask for nothing at all if you are in full time education!

except for

18th February 2014

15th/22nd April 2014

no meetings as school closed for Easter break

Chamber Music Players

We have been meeting many Saturdays or Sundays

The purpose is to practise and improve standard in small ensemble

Beethoven and Weber trios for flute, cello and piano
Cello sonatas by Beethoven, Brahms, Grieg and Mendelssohn, plus Bach and Bartok
Mozart Piano Quartets K478 and K493
Schumann op 73 (arr cello & piano)

We initially played
piano trios by Haydn and early Beethoven

Franck Bridge's 1917 cello sonata
is a real challenge!

Currently short of a viola player we have had to put on hold string quartets and piano quartets/quintets

Just one of the things we play

The old piano - new one looks much better! Who was it that didn't tune to my A ?

I'm not very old but I can make the most noise :-)I get all those difficult solo parts!Wasn't me responsible for that earthquake, honest!

I get the parts that nobody else wants

- dum de dum de dum de dum

I'm sure Ted's given me the oboe part

Fiddles galore!

Well someone's got to keep 'em in time
